Ground Tackle

The ground tackle (anchoring system) on F&P proved to be undersized and I've since learned incorrectly configured for a multi-hull.  This has been remedied and I intend to return to the anchorage soon.

I replaced the 1/4" anchor chain with 5/16", which is nearly 50% stronger.  The ensuing refit proved to be more involved than I anticipated, but I am pleased with the results.

The biggest change is that F&P now has an anchor bridle.  This distributes the anchor loads to both of the hulls, and because it is nylon which stretches it acts as a shock absorber.

This end clamps to the chain and the two eyelets attach to each hull.  Everything is strong enough that the anchor itself becomes the weakest link (with about 500lbs of holding power before it starts to drag).

A second set of ground tackle is desirable.  Until that time I intend to shelter at dock in a friendly marina during major storms.
